New Year’s Eve Fireworks 2019

Celebrating the New Year wouldn’t be the same without London’s famous firework display. Unfortunately, you have to buy tickets for the best views in the restricted zones along the Embankment, in the Westminster area, and on Westminster and Waterloo bridges. Unsurprisingly, they sell out extremely quickly, so if you want to soak up the London atmosphere rather than staying at home and watching it on the telly, you’ll have to find another way of getting close to the action.

On the streets

The nearest areas where there are no attendance restrictions are Millbank and on Lambeth Bridge and Vauxhall Bridge to the West, and the South Bank, Blackfriars Bridge and the Millennium Bridge to the East. But be warned, they’re extremely popular locations, and you’ll be joined by thousands of people all also hoping for a good view, so wrap up warm and get there early to reserve your place

However, if you’re prepared to splash out, there are ways of celebrating the New Year, seeing the fireworks and staying in the warm for most of the evening. Here are our favourite ideas:

Party boats

If you want to push the boat out, you can do so, literally! Our boats will be out in force on the 31st for New Year’s Eve Party Boat & Sightseeing Cruises. You’ll have the opportunity to party as you cruise along the Thames in the warmth of the lounge or in the fresh night air on deck. The boats will all return to Westminster in time for a glass of fizz at midnight, giving you an amazing view of the fireworks.

Restaurant with a view

The South Bank is full of restaurants boasting great views of the area, from where diners will get a great view of the fireworks. You may have to metaphorically push the boat out, but you should get a decent view of the fireworks – as well as great food and lots of dancing!

Ringside seats in an iglooJimmy’s pop-up bar, lodge and igloo are on the banks of the river and will give you exceptional views of the fireworks.

New Year’s Eve Spectacular – If partying on dry land is more your thing, the Royal Festival Hall is going all out for its New Year’s Eve Spectacular this year. The iconic venue is offering five floors of themed celebrations, including dancing, DJs, themed rooms, dance classes, a choice of restaurant or bar food and, of course, the most incredible views of the midnight fireworks.

Sky Garden’s New Year’s Eve Party – Recreating the glamour of the Great Gatsby era, the Sky Garden offers a range of eating options as well as incredible views across the capital.

The Savoy – The famous Savoy Hotel on the north bank of the river offers great views of the fireworks and has a number of dining options for the evening. However, a luxury hotel will be charging luxury prices, so to paraphrase the famous line from the film Jaws, ‘I think we’re gonna need a bigger budget’!
